Alec Stringer
Managing Director
Alec started Cutting Innovations back in 2007, While working as a designer for a manufacturing company in the advertising and shop-fitting industry, Alec saw an opportunity for CNC technology to increasingly push the boundaries of what is possible. He continues to set the direction for the business and grow the diverse client base. Alec works closely with our clients to visualise their concepts and oversees the creative and manufacturing process.
Peter Barlow
General Manager
Peter has vast experience running and managing top tier companies within the industry as well as other iconic NZ companies including Fisher & Paykel and Methvens. His diverse background in managing multi-trade staff and operations as well as his high level of H&S, QA and Lean manufacturing knowledge is a real asset to Cutting Innovations. Peters solution-based thinking allows us to resolve any challenges.
Tim Clayton
CNC manager
Tim schedules all our in-house CNC work as well as managing our contract cutting side of the business. Tim has a wealth
of knowledge in 3D machining, with experience across all manner of projects from complex patterns and moulds,
through to sculptural projects.
AJ Shane
Workshop Supervisor
AJ is a trained marine cabinet maker, and joined Cutting Innovations after travelling the world as a luxury yacht builder. He has immense knowledge of both the cabinet making industry as well as the shop fitting industry and has extensive experience running teams. AJ is responsible for ensuring all work is completed to a high standard before handing over to our installation team for the final part of the process.

James is a qualified boatbuilder with both boatbuilding and furniture making experience in New Zealand and Overseas. James’ has always had a passion for design and has worked as a designer/project manager within the Marine industry for a number of years. He is experienced in using Rhino, Autocad and Microvellum and is passionate and excited about solving difficult and technical design challenges others typically veer away from. He brings his practical knowledge to find solutions and produce great design.

Jo has a long history in the area of Finance, Accounts and Administration. She is responsible for the Company’s Accounts including Receivables and Payables, Company Payroll and also assists our Workshop with procurement. She’s often the one you will likely see first as you come in the door at Cutting Innovations.
sam kennedy
quantity surveyor
Sam has a varied background in residential building. Having lived and worked in different countries he also has a vast knowledge of the construction industry. Coming home to New Zealand he found himself looking for a new challenge and trained by way of a Cadetship with Hawkins as a Quantity Surveyor, latterly joining us here as an integral part of the Cutting Innovations team. Sam is responsible for looking after Quoting new Projects and the procurement of materials for our Projects.
